This Mequon home combines cement-board siding with cedar trim, stone accents and connected rooflines. Empire’s project paired exterior painting on the siding with staining on the cedar, bringing the surfaces together while retaining the home’s warm, natural character.
The written scope called for two finish coats on the siding and two coats of stain on the cedar trim. The trim work included soffits, fascia, corner boards, window trim, door and garage-door frames, and columns.
Doors, gutters, downspouts and stone were outside the painting scope.

Preparation for two different surfaces.
The project plan included low-pressure washing, protection for landscaping and adjacent surfaces, removal of loose coatings, sanding exposed areas, replacement of failing caulk and spot priming bare areas. Downspouts were to be removed for access and reinstalled after the work.
The specified finish system paired Sherwin-Williams Latitude exterior paint for the siding with WoodScapes stain for the cedar trim, with preparation matched to the existing surfaces.
