Exterior House Staining
Extend the Longevity of your Exterior House Staining
Professional painters think of stain as any finish that shows the natural wood grain. Whether it be a simple clear coat or a shade that accentuates the depth of wood, stain is perfect for contemporary homes, doors, and decks. Make sure you are highlighting the natural beauty of your wood siding with the help of exterior stain.
How to Stain Cedar Siding
While we do cover cedar surfaces with opaque stain, this is commonly referred to as a paint because you no longer see natural color. Rest assured, a proper product like Sherwin Williams Woodscapes is used for cedar surfaces.
At Empire, we take time to properly prepare your cedar siding to extend the life and the home beneath.
- Use gentle pressure washing to clean exterior cedar surfaces
- Scrape and sand away the old paint
- Repair or replace damaged cedar boards as needed
- Prime bare surfaces and apply the stain with either semi-transparent or solid-body stain
- Walk-through finished work for inspection
One free touch-up visit is always included. To increase protection of your cedar siding, Empire recommends an annual cleaning and two fresh coats approximately every five years.
